Electronic Subscriber Agreement - Tablet UI

Help dealers streamline the process of signing customers up for add-on services during the vehicle purchase process.

The Problem

Dealership employees needed an updated method of signing customers up for connected services during the vehicle purchase process. The system in use had a dated interface and was not available on tablets, which was the primary tool dealers wanted to use while assisting customers during the purchase process.

Users & Audience

The target audience for this app was dealership personnel. The goal was to improve efficiency when wrapping up a sale and to prevent the salesperson needing to return to their desk to complete last minute sign-ups and paperwork.

Team & Role

I was the lead UI/UX designer on this project, working with existing business partners and product owners to review current specs and define requirements for new tablet UI and experience. I designed wireframes, final UI and templated each design in HTML/CSS for handoff to the development team.

User Interface Design

The intent with the UI was to create an intuitive, step by step walk-through for the registration process. I tried to highlight the elements most frequently used by the dealership staff in the most accessible areas of the layout for easy access.

VIN Registration
The app opens with a landing page for the user to enter the vehicle identification number which starts the registration process.

Trial Selection
The user is given the option to select from a set of trial memberships that are offered to new customers. Key information was placed on the top of the accordion items so the user could view important information before selecting the option for additional details.

Secure Trials
The user then secures the previously selected trial memberships by entering basic information, security options and payment information.

Confirmation Screen
The user is given the chance to review all of their selections and edit anything that is not correct. A summary of all the selected trial memberships and the associated costs is displayed. Finally, the users reviews the terms and digitally signs the agreement.

Thank you!
A final thank you page is presented to the user with a confirmation that the order is complete and they have successfully signed up for their trial memberships. Additional instructions are presented for completing activation.

Outcome

The redesigned app was well received by the product team and was deemed a great improvement over the previous version. This app is actively used by dealership personnel.

Within this process, I used short design iterations to allow for frequent feedback from the product owners so as to reduce the amount of non essential content. This made for a simple and efficient app that reduces the amount of time dealership employees spend signing customers up for trial memberships of add-on services, which improves their efficiency and productivity. It also creates a better, more streamlined experience for the new customer.
